Head to The Arboretum on Saturday

The Arboretum at Flagstaff is opening its doors Saturday, July 9, for its annual Penstemon Festival and Plant Sale. The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free for the day. Here’s the schedule:

  • 9–5 PM: Local growers will have a wide selection of specimens to choose from. There will also be homegrown species of penstemons, as well as plants from Mountain States Nursery in Phoenix.
  • 10, 12:30 & 2:30: Dr. Gwendolyn Waring will lead special Penstemon tours. Or, just stop by to ask a question. Gwen will have an “Ask the Expert” penstemon station adjacent to the Penstemon Garden all day.
  • 11, 1 & 3 PM: Garden Tours
  • 10 AM – 4 PM: Face painting.
  • Information booths presented by authors of the weekly gardening column in the Arizona Daily Sun (presented by Master Gardeners) and the Flagstaff Flower & Garden Club (THAT’S US!)
